| MARKET STREET page 5 of 20 Lotta's Fountain has been on Market Street since 1875. Donated to The City by entertainer Lotta Crabtree, this ornate drinking fountain fell into disrepair over the decades. It was given a much-needed facelift in the 1990s, although they still can’t seem to keep the water flowing with any regularity. Every April 18th, a pre-dawn crowd of enthusiastic San Franciscans gather at Lotta's Fountain in rememberence of the 1906 earthquake. |
