THE INTERNATIONAL SETTLEMENT

The International Settlement was the block-long “official naughty section” of town during the 1940s and 50s. Nightclubs, bars and girlie shows filled Pacific Avenue from Kearny to Montgomery.  Today, fragments of the poles that supported the archway remain, but all other evidence has been erased.
