The carousel next to Children's Playground has been in place since 1940.  Immediately before that, it was installed at the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island.  Currently, Children's Playground is undergoing a complete renovation, and is closed for the duration.  The carousel, however, is open for business.
