| Adolph Sutro also owned the Sutro Baths, just east the Cliff House. An elaborate glassed-in public swimming facility, the Baths piped ocean water into the seven separate swimming pools, each of which was heated to a different temperature. A popular attraction for decades, Sutro Baths eventually fell out of fashion., and finally burned down in the 1960s. The bottom photo shows the ruins, as they look today. |
